Stadio Giuseppe Meazza will welcome a game that has two teams battling for the same goal, a Champions League spot. Napoli is on second place after Juventus, and there are only four points separating them and AC Milan. Milan comes from an unfortunate 2-2 draw against Fiorentina, a game that according to Massimilano Allegri, Milan has nobody to blame but themselves for not winning. After having a comfortable 2-0 lead for most of the game, and with Fiorentina playing with 10 men due to a red card received by Nenad Tomovici, Milan saw themselves being equalized with two late penalties.
Napoli is out of a victory against Genoa, when Pandev and Blerim Dzemaili managed to score in the first half, and the team closed the defensive to keep the scoring table unchanged even though Genoa had a missed penalty in the second half through Edison Cavani. If we are to remember the last match between these two teams, we would see how much better Milan got at coming back from behind. Napoli were leading by two goals, however El Shaarway scored both goals that brought the Rossonerri hope.
Napoli plays some really good games when being away; let’s take for example their 3-5 win against Torino. They conceded 28 goals this season, while Milan managed to score the same amount; and then Napoli lost 9 times in Serie A, Milan only four. Cavani and Hamsik are the players Napoli relies on to score, or at least to assist to any potential goals, while Milan has Balotteli, Shaarway and Boateng.
Statistically-wise the teams are fairly equal, but somehow Milan seems to need and maybe want the victory more, after the last draw they went through. That’s why I’m hoping they manage to close the gap between themselves and Napoli. Giuseppe Meazza will witness the start of the game at 19:45. GMT+1.
