AC Milan vs. Napoli

AC Milan stated it was out for blood before this game, seeking a victory that would allow them to close the gap between them and the second placed Napoli, thus giving space for their hope to still get to the last direct Champions League ticket. But Milan hasn’t been as impressive this year as it had been in the first half of Serie A, so in the end the game crashed and fizzled to end up in a 1-1 draw that suits neither of the teams. It puts Milan under Fiorentina’s radar, and Napoli still on Milan’s seeing as the next several results will be crucial.
Milan took the lead after 15 minutes, through Flamini, but the team as a whole looked rather strained, maybe because it didn’t have both Balotelli and El Shaarawy on the pitch; while the first one didn’t start because of suspension, the absence of the other one came as a shock to everyone. Questioned about his decision, Allegri said that Stephan didn’t play because he was recharging his batteries, and that Robinho had a good game; guess he didn’t look at the scoring table that much.
Napoli looked like the leader Milan aimed to be, controlling the game, and thwarting every chance Milan had to score. Pandev equalized in the 33 minute, and then had several attempts to score the winning goal, most notably through Cavani, but it never came to fruition. Flamini went from hero to zero for Milan fans as he was dismissed in the 72 minute of the game, and left his team in 10 people…a fact of which Napoli couldn’t take advantage of.
Allegri remain ever the optimist, “We have not missed the last train (for second place). We are in the race and we have also kept the gap to Fiorentina at two wins. There are still several games to go until the end of the season and our objective remains qualifying for the Champions League through second or third place.” The Italian press however sees Fiorentina as more of a threat to Milan, than Milan being any threat to Napoli.
Seeing as I was betting on Milan being in a better form that they were, I lost the bet placed on their win with the odds from William Hill and my 6 units.
Result:-6 units, bet lost
