BORUSSIA-DORTMUND-VS-WOLFSBURG-05-april-2014-recap

Borussia Dortmund won against a Wolfsburg team that just wouldn’t give up the three points, but we lost the bet placed on a draw at halftime and Dortmund to win with 888sport. The visitors were by far the better side of the two in the first half, but their finishing was so poor that it allowed the hosts to go about their business and not only come from behind one goal, but also to win by one.

The ex-Bayern player, Ivica Olic, gave a lot of headaches to Borussia Dortmund, especially since they decided to rest Weidenfeller for the game against Real Madrid. After only 10 minutes his shot went wide off the post, and De Bruyne had some missed chances of his own in the first half. The same Olic was responsible for an almost record breaking event; he managed to hit the woodwork twice in just 35 seconds. He finally got his goal on the 34th minute when he managed to convert from an initially cleared shot by Dortmund.

In the second half, Robert Lewandowski managed to make it 1-1 after being able to score with a header. Wolfsburg’s Naldo is way taller than Lewandowski, yet instead of clearing the ball he received, he sent it right to the Pole, who scored into the far post. Marco Reus was the one in charge of the second Dortmund goal as he capitalized on a childish defensive error.

Borussia Dortmund has now a tiny lead over Schalke for the second Bundesliga spot and will travel to Munich next week to face the Champions on Allianz Arena.

Result: -4 units, bet lost
