Juventus Juventus 0 – 1 AC Milan AC Milan

Saturday, March 5th 2011, 20.45 CET

As mentioned in this post, I didn’t watch the first part of Juventus vs. AC Milan. I read some reports about it on uefa.com. Juventus started the game with the moral advantage of playing at home and they pretty much controlled the first part of the first half. Milos Krasic, Juventus’s Serbian winger was at the center of numerous attacks of La Vecchia Donna. However, Abbiati did not have any real trouble in keeping the Bianconeri away from Milan’s safety zone.

The Milanese had their chances in the first half as well: after only five minutes, Zlatan Ibrahimovic received a good ball from Mathieu Flamini but his volley went over Buffon’s post. Cassano was the next to threaten Juventus’s goalkeeper in the 21st minute: although inside the area, his left-foot shot went just over the post. The Serie A leaders controlled the game well towards the end of the first half with good actions from Ibrahimovic and Prince-Boateng, but no serious trouble was seen near Juventus’s post.

I can’t tell whether the second half was more interesting (sure, there was the goal, but not very much afterwards), but it was certainly enjoyable to watch. Robinho went in after the break and he really added vitality to Milan’s game. And a lively start it was: Juventus started having trouble from the start, with Buffon beautifully palming Ibrahimovic’s free kick shot. Although La Vecchia Donna proved it’s a tough match for AC Milan, the Rossoneri were deafeated minutes later by Gennaro Gattuso: after receiving a pass from Robinho, his weak goal was enough to (surprisingly!) beat Buffon and bring about his first goal of the season! Actually, he hadn’t score in Serie A before this since January 2008, and he’s currently suspended from CL games.

I had 2 units on a draw here, so this goal made me support Juventus for the rest of the game 🙂 Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, and the game ended 0-1. Juventus couldn’t do much more after the goal in front of the impenetrable Milanese defense.

In the end, it was an enjoyable game, but I lost 2 units! Hopefully Liverpool will be bringing me some units tomorrow 😀
