The second round of the Premier League title race pits against each other two of the title contenders as Man City get ready to host Liverpool. Both teams won their opening matches, both had to work for it, but Manchester City managed to keep a clean sheet, while Liverpool had to wait till the last minute of their match to score the winning goal.
Newcastle were never really able to put Joe Hart to trouble, and the Citizens were the team with a purpose after the embarrassing Community Shield loss against Arsenal. Their main men are David Silva and Sergio Aguero, both fully fit after their World Cup adventure and the goalscorers against Newcastle. Manuel Pellegrini will have the entire squad at his disposal, except for Alvaro Negredo who is sidelined due to his injury.
Liverpool get their first real test of the season, to see if they can cope without Luis Suarez in Premier League. The Reds managed to destroy Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season friendly, and while the German team recovered quite nicely, Liverpool looked lost and out of ideas in their opening league match. Provided Brendan Rodgers pretends to win this match, he needs to switch up his starting eleven. Daniel Sturridge is a gem in the Liverpool team, but he cannot go around and going at goals alone, while Mignolet needs to be more stable in the line.
Manchester City do not have issues in front of the goal; it’s no wonder why Ladbrokes gave them 1.85 odds to win outright as opposed to Liverpool’s 4.20. Sergio Aguero as anytime goalscorer is at 2.00, Dzeko at 2.37 and Sturridge at 2.75. Man City with a -1,0 Handicap is at 2.07, Liverpool at a +1,0 at 1.75 and Man City to win to nil is at 3.50. We are going to bet 5 units on the wincast market of Aguero to score and Man City to win at 3.00.
