Napoli vs. Juventus

Friday, March 1st 2013, 9:00 CET

The Italian teams SSC Napoli and Juventus Torino are going to meet this Friday, on March 1st, for an exciting Serie A duel.

Exciting indeed, as Juve is currently 1st and Napoli is 2nd, trailing 7 points and hoping to reduce that number to 4 this weekend. That is not very unlikely, considering the fact that both teams are in about the same shape.

Well, Juventus is in better shape for this particular match if we are to judge based on the last five direct confrontations, which occurred during 2011 and 2012: two Juve wins, two draws, and one Napoli victory. All the more is Torino better positioned since the last two games were both won by them, with the scores of 3-0 and 2-0.

Things look a little more balanced if we look at each team’s last 5 matches in Serie A: Torino won 3 (3-0, 2-0 and 2-1 with Siena, Fiorentina and Chievo, respectively), tied 1 (1-1 against Genoa) and lost 1 (0-1 at Roma), while Napoli won 2 (against Catania and Parma by 2-0 and 2-1, respectively) and tied 3 (0-0 with Sampdoria, 1-1 with both Lazio and Fiorentina). The last game should give momentum to Juventus, as they won it (against Siena), compared to the fruitless encounter of Napoli versus Sampdoria.

And once again the balance is tipped in favor of Juventus, as we look at both teams last 5 while counting international games. The Torino team has a 4-0-1 record, while Napoli’s dwindles to 1-2-2.

I place my 5 units on Juventus with the odds set at 2.45. The odds I used are from Bwin.

  1. Indeed, the victory of Napoli over Catania was very important for their self-confidence…still, their chances in front of Juventus are poor

  2. i think this game may end in a draw cause all though juventus is looking good to napoli this game looks like a title decider and would fight to win or settle for a draw
