Osasuna vs. Real Madrid

Wednesday, January 12th 2013, 11:00 CET

The match between Real Madrid and Osasuna that took place last Saturday ended in a goalless and a disappointing draw. This also means that I lost the bet I made on the victory of Real Madrid, which seemed to be the most predictable outcome of the match before the kick-off.

José Mourinho’s team appeared to be totally lost without Cristiano Ronaldo who was suspended for the game in Pamplona. This means that the unbeaten leaders, Barcelona, can go 18 points clear of their rivals, with the victory from Málaga. The absence of Ronaldo was deeply felt by Real, who failed to win the past three league matches, in which their top scorer (who has scored 16 times this season), did not play.

The defender Raúl Albiol provided a rare start at centre-half in the absence of Pepe (injured) and Sergio Ramos (suspended). The main incident came in the 76th minute, when Kaká was given a second yellow card for preventing Osasuna taking a quick free-kick.

On the other hand, Osasuna can’t complain. The result of this match lifted them off the bottom of the table, above Deportivo La Coruña.

All in all, after this match, Real Madrid should reconsider their position and start thinking of a strategy to improve it as soon as possible.

Result:-10 units, bet lost
